TheTribe Wellness Community — Terms of Use

Effective Date: April 27, 2026

Welcome to TheTribe Wellness Community (“TheTribe,” “the Community,” or “the Service”), an online peer support community operated by WebTribes, Inc. (“TherapyTribe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) at support.therapytribe.com. These Terms of Use are a binding agreement between you and TherapyTribe. By creating an account or otherwise using the Community, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use the Community.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DISPUTE RESOLUTION: These Terms contain provisions that govern how disputes between you and TherapyTribe will be handled, including a binding arbitration requirement and class action waiver in Section 20. Please read Section 20 carefully before using the Community.

IF YOU ARE IN CRISIS: TheTribe is a peer support community, not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Teens and young adults can also text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line).

1. About TheTribe Wellness Community

TheTribe is a free, members-only online peer support community for people navigating mental health and wellness challenges. Members can create profiles, post blogs and journal entries, participate in discussion forums within topic-based peer support groups, exchange direct messages with other members, track moods, complete wellness activities, and connect with others facing similar experiences.

The Community is organized into peer support groups covering a range of mental health and wellness topics. Some groups discuss content that may not be suitable for all members, including detailed personal accounts of substance use, mental illness, trauma, abuse, relationship difficulties, or other sensitive subjects. We encourage members to select groups appropriate to their age, circumstances, and personal sensitivities, and to leave any group whose content does not feel right for them.

TheTribe is part of TherapyTribe (www.therapytribe.com), but the directory and the Community operate under separate terms. These Terms apply only to the Community at support.therapytribe.com. The Visitor Terms of Use apply to use of the directory at www.therapytribe.com.

2. Eligibility and Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Community. When you sign up, you will be asked to confirm your age. Individuals under 13 are not permitted to create accounts and are blocked from registration.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete the account and the information. If you believe a person under 13 has registered, please contact us using the information at the end of these Terms.

If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher), we strongly encourage you to obtain a parent or legal guardian’s awareness and consent before joining the Community and to involve them in your participation. Some content posted by other members in the Community may not be suitable for younger members, and parental involvement is the best way to ensure your participation is healthy and appropriate.

By creating an account, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements and that the information you provide at registration, including your age, is true and accurate.

3. Account Registration and Security

To use the Community, you must register for an account by providing a username, email address, password, and other information requested at signup, including confirmation of your age and acceptance of these Terms. You agree to provide true, accurate, and complete information, and to keep your account information current.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account credentials;
  • All activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorized by you;
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access to or use of your account;
  • Logging out of your account at the end of each session, particularly on shared devices.

You may not share your account, transfer your account to another person, or create multiple accounts. Each account must be associated with one real individual.

4. Acceptable Use and Community Standards

The Community is built on mutual respect, peer support, and safety. As a condition of using the Community, you agree not to post, share, or transmit any content that:

  • Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, vulgar, obscene, or invasive of another person’s privacy;
  • Is hateful, or discriminates against any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or other protected characteristic;
  • Promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or substance abuse;
  • Sexualizes minors in any way, or constitutes child sexual abuse material;
  • Contains sexually explicit content, pornography, or graphic descriptions of sexual activity;
  • Contains graphic depictions of violence, gore, or serious self-harm;
  • Infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other intellectual property right of any party;
  • Impersonates any person, misrepresents your identity, or falsely claims professional credentials you do not hold;
  • Constitutes spam, mass-mailing, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or unsolicited advertising;
  • Solicits other members for commercial purposes, including the promotion of products, services, or other websites;
  • Solicits personal information from other members beyond what is reasonable for peer support;
  • Provides medical, legal, financial, or professional advice as if you were licensed to do so;
  • Contains malware, viruses, or any code or content intended to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to the Community or to other members’ devices.

You also agree not to:

  • Use the Community to harass, bully, threaten, or stalk other members;
  • Encourage or coach other members toward self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or substance use;
  • Misrepresent yourself as a licensed mental health professional, medical provider, or representative of TherapyTribe;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Community, including other members’ accounts;
  • Use any automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access, copy, or extract content from the Community;
  • Use the Community, or any content on it, to train, develop, or fine-tune any artificial intelligence or machine learning model;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Community or its underlying networks or systems.

5. User-Generated Content

“Member Content” means any content you post, share, or transmit through the Community, including profile information, blog posts, journal entries, forum posts, comments, mood entries, wellness activity entries, photos, and direct messages.

You retain ownership of your Member Content. By posting Member Content to the Community, you grant TherapyTribe a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, display, reproduce, modify (for formatting only), and distribute that content within the Community for the purpose of operating the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or delete your account, except that we may retain backup or archival copies as described in our Privacy Policy.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the right to share all Member Content you post;
  • Your Member Content does not infringe the rights of any third party;
  • Your Member Content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.

You are solely responsible for your Member Content and for the consequences of posting it. TherapyTribe does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any Member Content. Reliance on Member Content posted by others in the Community is at your own risk.

6. Direct Messages Between Members

The Community includes a direct message (“DM”) feature that allows members to communicate privately with one another.

  • DMs are not actively monitored. TherapyTribe does not routinely review the content of direct messages between members. We rely on members to report concerning DMs to us.
  • DMs are stored on our servers. While DMs are not actively monitored, they are stored and may be accessed by TherapyTribe in response to member reports, suspected violations of these Terms, legal process, or other legitimate purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for your own safety in DMs. Use the same caution you would in any online interaction with a stranger. Do not share home addresses, phone numbers, financial information, account credentials, or other sensitive personal information with members you do not know and trust.
  • Reporting harassment or abuse. If another member sends you DMs that are harassing, threatening, abusive, or otherwise violate these Terms, please report the messages to us using the contact information at the end of these Terms. We will review reported DMs and take action as appropriate, in our sole discretion.
  • No expectation of confidentiality from TherapyTribe. While DMs are private from other members, they are not confidential or privileged from TherapyTribe. Do not use DMs to share information you do not want TherapyTribe to be able to see.

The same Acceptable Use rules in Section 4 that apply to public posts also apply to DMs.

7. Privacy Settings and Profile Visibility

Your member profile and the content you post may be visible to other members of the Community based on your privacy settings. You can adjust the visibility of your profile, including limiting it to members you have connected with as friends. We encourage you to review and adjust your settings to match the level of privacy you want.

The Community is members-only and is not indexed by public search engines. Content posted in the Community is not publicly accessible outside of TherapyTribe and is not crawled or indexed by Google or other search engines. However, content you post is visible to other members within the scope of your privacy settings, and other members are not bound by confidentiality. Do not post information in the Community that you would not want other members to see, share, or screenshot.

8. Content Moderation

TherapyTribe may, but is not obligated to, monitor or review content posted in the Community. Our moderation approach combines:

  • Periodic team review of public content for spam, abuse, and obvious Terms violations;
  • Member reporting — members can report content that violates these Terms or causes concern, and we review and respond to those reports as soon as reasonably practicable.

Content posted in the Community appears immediately and is not pre-screened or pre-approved by TherapyTribe. TherapyTribe is not responsible for screening or monitoring all content, and our exercise or non-exercise of these rights does not create any duty or liability to any member or third party.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion and with or without notice, to:

  • Review, edit, redact, or remove any content posted in the Community;
  • Refuse to display or transmit any content that we believe violates these Terms;
  • Issue warnings to members who violate these Terms;
  • Suspend or terminate any account for violations of these Terms or for any other reason or no reason, as described in Section 14.

We do not represent, warrant, or guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of any content posted by members. You acknowledge that any reliance on member-posted content is at your own risk.

9. Crisis and Emergency Information

TheTribe is a peer support community, not a crisis service, mental health hotline, or emergency response service. If you or another member appears to be in crisis or to be considering self-harm, suicide, or harm to others, do not rely on the Community for help.

If you are experiencing a crisis:

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room for immediate medical or safety concerns;
  • Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) for free, confidential, 24/7 support;
  • Text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line) for text-based crisis support, particularly useful for teens and young adults;
  • Contact a licensed mental health professional or your existing healthcare provider.

If you encounter another member who appears to be in crisis, please contact emergency services if you believe there is imminent danger, and report the situation to TherapyTribe using the contact information at the end of these Terms. While we cannot guarantee a real-time response, we will review the report and may take action, including contacting emergency services or relevant authorities, where appropriate and where we have sufficient information to do so. TherapyTribe is not staffed to provide crisis intervention.

10. No Therapeutic or Professional Relationship

TheTribe is a peer support community. Participation in the Community does not create a therapist-client, doctor-patient, or any other professional relationship between you and TherapyTribe, between you and any moderator, or between you and any other member.

Information shared in the Community is not professional medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice and is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified, licensed professional. The experiences and opinions shared by members are personal to those members and may not apply to your situation. Always consult a qualified professional for diagnosis, treatment, or advice regarding your specific circumstances.

If another member identifies themselves as a licensed mental health professional or other professional, that representation has not been verified by TherapyTribe. Any professional advice you receive within the Community is at your own risk.

11. Health Information and Confidentiality

TherapyTribe is not a healthcare provider and is not a Covered Entity, Business Associate, or Subcontractor as those terms are defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, as amended (“HIPAA”). The Community is not designed to be a HIPAA-protected environment.

Content you share in the Community — including health information, mental health symptoms, diagnoses, medications, treatment history, recovery details, and personal experiences — is visible to other members within the scope of your privacy settings and is not protected by HIPAA. Other members are not legally bound to keep your information confidential.

Be thoughtful about what you share. Consider what level of detail you are comfortable having visible to other members, screenshotted, or potentially shared outside the Community. The Community offers privacy settings (including friends-only profile visibility) so you can control who sees your content.

12. Intellectual Property

The Community, including its design, layout, software, graphics, logos, and TherapyTribe-created content, is the proprietary property of WebTribes, Inc. and is protected by United States and international intellectual property laws. The names “TherapyTribe,” “TheTribe,” and the various tribe names, along with associated logos, are trademarks of WebTribes, Inc. and may not be used without our express written permission.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit any part of the Community or its content, except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law. Member Content remains the property of the member who posted it, subject to the license granted to TherapyTribe in Section 5.

13. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

TherapyTribe respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content posted in the Community infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice to our designated DMCA agent. To be effective under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your notice must include:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf;
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with information sufficient to permit us to locate it;
  • Your contact information, including address, telephone number, and email;
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the copyright owner’s behalf.

Send DMCA notices to: WebTribes, Inc., Attn: DMCA Agent, 1055 Quartz Ct, Ste. B, San Marcos, CA 92078, USA, or through our contact form. In appropriate circumstances, we will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

14. Account Termination

Termination by you. You may delete your account at any time by following the account deletion instructions in your account settings or by contacting us. When you delete your account, your profile and posts will be removed from the Community, although we may retain backup copies and account records as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.

Termination by TherapyTribe. TherapyTribe reserves the right, at any time and in our sole discretion, with or without notice, to suspend or terminate your account and your access to the Community for any reason or no reason, including but not limited to violations of these Terms. Without limiting the foregoing, we may terminate accounts for behavior that endangers the safety or wellbeing of other members, repeated violations of the Acceptable Use rules, or any conduct we determine is incompatible with the supportive purpose of the Community.

Upon termination, your right to use the Community ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5 (User-Generated Content license), 12 (Intellectual Property), 17 (Limitation of Liability), 18 (Release of Claims), 19 (Indemnification), 20 (Dispute Resolution and Arbitration), 21 (Limitation on Time to File Claims), 22 (Governing Law), and 24 (General Provisions) — will continue in effect after termination.

15. Privacy

Our collection, use, and protection of personal information is described in the TherapyTribe Privacy Policy, which applies to your use of the Community. By using the Community, you agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

16. Disclaimers

The Community is provided as a free service for peer support and connection. TherapyTribe does not guarantee that the Community will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected. Files or content downloaded or otherwise obtained through the Community are obtained at your own risk; TherapyTribe is not responsible for any damage to your computer system, mobile device, or loss of data resulting from such downloads.

THE COMMUNITY AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. THERAPYTRIBE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THERAPYTRIBE MAKES NO WARRANTY AS TO THE RELIABILITY, ACCURACY, TIMELINESS, USEFULNESS, ADEQUACY, COMPLETENESS, OR SUITABILITY OF THE COMMUNITY OR ANY CONTENT POSTED IN IT.

17. Limitation of Liability

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, INCLUDING BREACH OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR NEGLIGENCE, WILL THERAPYTRIBE, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS PARTNERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES THAT ARISE OUT OF OR ARE RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE COMMUNITY OR ANY INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL THERAPYTRIBE’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, OR CLAIM RELATED TO OR ARISING OUT OF THE COMMUNITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

18. Release of Claims

By using the Community, you release, discharge, and hold harmless TherapyTribe and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or injuries (including death) of every kind and nature, whether known or unknown, arising out of or related to:

  • Any interactions you have with other members of the Community, whether through posts, comments, direct messages, or otherwise;
  • Any content posted by other members, including reliance you place on such content;
  • Disputes between you and any other member; and
  • Any meeting, contact, or relationship you form with another member outside of the Community.

You acknowledge that other members are independent individuals not employed or controlled by TherapyTribe, and that your interactions with them are your own decisions, made at your own risk. TherapyTribe is not a party to any peer-to-peer relationship that may form within or outside the Community.

19. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TherapyTribe and its partners, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and employees from any liability, loss, claim, or demand — including reasonable attorneys’ fees — arising out of or related to:

  • Your breach of these Terms;
  • Your Member Content or your use of the Community;
  • Your violation of any law or the rights of a third party;
  • Your interactions with other members of the Community.

20. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

i. Informal Resolution. Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact TherapyTribe in writing using the contact information at the end of these Terms and provide a detailed description of the dispute and the relief you seek. The parties agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of written notice. If the dispute is not resolved within that period, either party may proceed to arbitration as described below or, where applicable, to small claims court.

ii. Binding Arbitration. You and TherapyTribe agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Community, or your use of the Community, including disputes regarding the validity, applicability, or enforceability of this arbitration provision, shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration shall take place in San Marcos, California, or at your election, via remote hearing. The arbitrator’s decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

iii. Exceptions. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights, without waiving the right to arbitrate all other claims. Either party may also bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies for that program.

iv. Class Action Waiver. You agree that any arbitration or proceeding shall be limited to the dispute between TherapyTribe and you individually. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you waive the right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against TherapyTribe. You agree that you may bring claims against TherapyTribe only in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action or representative proceeding.

v. Costs. Each party shall bear its own costs and attorneys’ fees in arbitration, except where applicable AAA rules or law require TherapyTribe to pay filing fees for claims that appear to be brought in good faith.

vi. Severability. If any part of this arbitration agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining parts shall continue in full force and effect, except that if the class action waiver in Section 20(iv) is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration agreement shall be null and void.

21. Limitation on Time to File Claims

To the extent allowed by applicable law, you agree to bring any claim or action relating to your use of the Community within one (1) year from the date on which the claim or action arose. Claims not filed within this timeframe will be permanently barred.

22. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. For any dispute not subject to arbitration under Section 20 — including claims for emergency injunctive or equitable relief as described in Section 20(iii) — you and TherapyTribe agree to submit to the exclusive personal jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in the City of San Marcos, San Diego County, California.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be posted at this URL with an updated “Effective Date” at the top. If we make material changes, we will notify members by email to the address associated with their account, by conspicuous notice within the Community, or both. Your continued use of the Community after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Community and may delete your account.

24. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Headings are for reference purposes only and do not define, limit, or describe the scope of any section. Our failure to act with respect to a breach by you or others does not waive our right to act with respect to subsequent or similar breaches.

These Terms, together with the documents referenced herein (including our Privacy Policy), constitute the entire understanding between you and TherapyTribe regarding the Community and supersede any prior or contemporaneous communications, whether written or oral. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
