Twelve things about me that are strange. Obviously, I had a hard time narrowing it down

  1. I'm not afraid of the dark, not really, but I hate reaching my hand into a dark room to flick the light switch. I am usually fairly convinced that something will reach out and grab my arm, and surprised when nothing does
  2.  I have been the only dry eye at many a funeral, because I have a hard time letting myself cry in public. I am also prone to cracking jokes at funerals in an attempt to cheer you up. However, when I'm by myself, I occasionally cry at stupid things like movies on  and heartwrenching bulletins about missing children.  Secretly, I am a big ole ball of mush. Wink
  3. old books  I can't explain it; it's a musty, mildewy, dirt and age smell, far from flowers, but it's one of my favorite smells. I have no idea why this is.
  4.  Phone conversations don’t interest me. With the exception of my family or friends who live 500+ miles away, I almost never initiate a phone call.
Text messaging? Couldn’t live without it.
E-Mail? The best thing to happen to human communication in the last fifty years.
Seeing people in person? My preferred way to communicate with people. Let's meet for lunch!
Something about the phone, though, just seems like so much effort. There’s the dialing, and the ringing, and the actual talking. I feel exhausted just thinking about it.
  5. . I always overfill tea cups and mugs to the point where it is inevitable I spill some. It's my own personal drinking problem.
  6. i cannot stand tomatoes.  The smell, the taste, the texture, the feel, the horrible interior chambers of glutinious seeds:  within these characteristics I believe all the evil of the food world dwells.
  7. If I find a song that I really really like, I will listen to it on repeat for hours and not get tired of it.
  8. I love the smell of rain and new books.
  9.  I can enjoy horror movies but if a spider the size of a pound coin   walks across the living room floor, I’m standing on a chair and screaming bloody murder.
  10. I have no middle name. This seems to stress people out who are convinced I’m hiding something sinister like “Gertrude”.
  11. I love to eat ice – much to the chagrin of those around me. can always tell when I am anemic because that is when I crave ice. Hello iron pills!
  12.    I'm an obsessively crafty person. As in artsy craftsy. At any given time, I've got at least 3 projects going on…knitting, sewing, drawing, you name it

The first step to making a list of weird things is realizing that nothing is weird and nothing is normal. Things just are. If half the population of my city or country does the same thing as me, it's equally likely that half of the population doesn't do things the way I do. Accept it.
