I heard about a Social Anxiety Disorder study in the Kansas City area so I thought I would pass on the info here. I talked to the lady today and I’m signed up for it, I asked her if she’s still looking for more people and she is, so I thought to come on here and tell anyone local about it. I can’t remember who all is in K.C. and who all has S.A.D., so ignore this if it doesn’t apply.
She said there are 3 steps, one is a phone interview to see if you qualify; the next you go to the facility in Overland Park and fill out some questionnaires; and the third time, you go back to the facility in O.P., they hook you up to wires and show you pictures of people’s faces and they record your brain waves. I thought it sounded interesting, especially since I know I read expressions better than most people. Haha Anyway, she said that if you go through the whole thing, it pays $50, not much since gas is so high right now and you have to go to O.P. twice, but maybe research studies like this will lead to better help for people with S.A.D.
And I hope I don’t get in trouble for posting this, I don’t really consider it an ad since it’s not trying to sell you anything, I’m just passing on information about a volunteer opportunity. Anyway, I guess we’ll see if I get in trouble!

The University of Kansas Medical Center and the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment are seeking research participants for a study examining brain activation involved in face processing in Social Anxiety Disorder. You may be eligible for this study if you experience Social Anxiety symptoms, and are between 18-50 years of age. Testing procedures include structured diagnostic interview and brain imaging.
