In the pursuit of exploring my gender, I’ve been doing feminizing vocal training, with the help of a YouTube channel I found.
I’m not going to lie, there were times I felt awkward and silly, it seemed like I would not be able to achieve a feminine tone, and it made me feel self-conscious. I got to a point where I started to hear feminine qualities, but they just didn’t seem to last; It was like I was at the cusp of something, but I couldn’t quite get it.
One thing I wanted to do for people in my support group, whom I truly treasure, is to make short recordings for them. Even though I didn’t feel I quite got it, I decided to do recordings with the mindset that they could be deleted if I did not like them. I am so happy that I did because the voice I heard in my ear sounded different than the recordings. There was a distinct feminine tone to it, and the feedback that I got from my group was very positive
Is the voice perfect? No, but I have a great place to start where I can practice inflections, different octaves, and different tones. If anyone reads this and wants to find their feminine voice, I just want you to know you do not have to high voice, and being in the 3rd Octave is completely fine. The most important thing is to find your authentic voice.
I admire your commitment to doing the hard work. It’s like learning to play a musical instrument. You can do it if you just keep practicing. You are an inspiration to me.
You are very sweet to say so. I hope this can inspire you and others to keep at it because it is just about putting the time into it. Don’t worry about how good others are with their authentic voices because you cannot see the struggle and time it took to get where they are.
