FLORENCE – A 47-year-old high school teacher has been arrested on eight counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office arrested Johnathan Kreiger Friday morning after a 10-day investigation.

Kreiger, a teacher since 2002, has been teaching science and German at Apache Junction High School since 2005. He's also taught at Sequoia Charter School in Mesa and Apache Trail High School. He's also been known by the names John Snell and Johnathan Raye.

The investigation began when detectives received information that the Gold Canyon man and a 16-year-old student may have been having a "relationship." Evidence was gathered and several warrants were issued to search a personal computer at the high school.

Kreiger has been booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility in Florence on 8 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and is being held on $250,000 bond.

"Sex crimes against our children will not be tolerated. Our Sheriff's Office will aggressively investigate these reported crimes and pursue justice for our most vulnerable victims. Sexual predators must be stopped," stated Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.
