Hello Everyone, Yesterday started just like most other days… until I walked out to get into my car! I stood there, mouth hanging open when I spotted these shiny trails of Snail Slime, (mucus) trailing all over the inside of the car. Ack!!!!! and, Oh no!!

They stood out in stark contrast as most of the interior is black. These shiny, glistening & sparkly trails winding seemingly everywhere! Ha, ha, ha…! and… Gross!

Starting the day with a laugh felt good! After I calmed down enough to think about it, and finally understand how this had happened??… I was doing some pruning yesterday (yes, on my day off… what can I say?) on a Rhododendron (Rhody) and some Camellia’s (Cam’s) and the blooms were sooo beautiful, the Rhody’s were a deep medium pink and the Cam’s were white. So I thought they would look good in a simple arrangement, along with some green Cam stems with buds just beginning to bloom. If you did not know this, cuttings from a Cam can stay green for a -very- long time as long as they are kept in water and outside…. I’ve never had a cut branch bloom, how about you?

Back to the story: And so the my search for this errant escaped snail began! Still chuckling, I didn’t call out for it, would it know it’s name? (tic) I did not think it would be too hard, or take too long. After all, I had a trail to follow. 🙂 I just had to figure out which end was the beginning and follow it from there! 🙂 Under the seat? nope. Across the floor mat and into the foot well? uh uh. So it was not in the trunk, which is where I think it started, crawling out from the shelter of dew damp branches and leaves. 🙂 Luckily I had emptied the trunk a few days earlier, so I could tell at a glance that it was not in there. 🙂 But it passed through here, and on to the back seat, not in the rear foot well. But it went back under the passenger seat, up the side of it, across the shoulder strap of the seat belt and onto the wall… Ta dah! I found them. 🙂

After I admonished it for going everywhere, I let it go. The snail got a reprieve (I don’t crush bugs, especially not spiders*) when I set it on it’s way with a firm reproach of, “On your way, go eat something!” The trails were surprisingly easy to wipe up with a damp rag… And the cuttings were trimmed, in water filled vases on the front porch, the side porch and yes even on the dinning table. I will move this one outside after dinner.

In an effort to not take life so damn seriously, find some friends, and have some fun, I first came to this site… I just thought I would share a funny moment. 🙂 Hope I brightened up your day a little.

Sending all of you a smile, a hug, some laughter and joy – Iris
p.s. * You may not like them, but spiders are useful, they eat other bugs! If you did not know this, the anchor lines of a spiders web are not sticky, try tapping one gently some time.
