Life is getting harder by every second now. We’re supposed to enjoy and cherish every moment of life, but you tell me this: how am I supposed to cherish looking like a freak in front of my whole family? I told my mom I was bisexual 7 months ago. She responded “no you’re not.” And ever since then she still doesn’t believe me. My grandma, who I’m very close with, seems to baby me about it, but still supports me. My aunt, who is my best friend, believes me and supports me, and treats me the same. But that’s the only family I’ve told. All my friends know, but telling my family sends my anxiety spiking through the roof. My dad’s side is super Christian and homophobic, and some of the things they say hurt really bad. How can you think so lowly of a person just because of their sexual preferences? We shouldn’t be alienated because we’re boys liking boys, or girls liking girls, or because we like both genders. Seriously, what’s wrong with not being heterosexual? Because everyone cries out for peace and acceptance, but then they bitch and complain about gay marriage being legal, even though it became legal (in the us) June 26, 2015. I don’t get how they can want things that they’re making impossible themselves.

This blog resonated with me, here’s why. My mom is in denial about me being lesbian, along with my dad. Whenever I bring up a cute girl I was flirting with they don’t speak, and end up changing the subject. My sister is the exact same way. My friends are supportive – obviously – but that’s it. At this point I don’t bring up my love life due to rejection by my family. I don’t want to tell you to do the same, but I feel like that’s what you need to do. If you’re being ridiculed by your dad’s side of the family and it will not stop, you need to keep it on the downside. If you’re still living with your parents and they continue to berate you, this could end up with you being homeless.
America is filled with hypocrites who don’t understand the definition of “acceptance” and “equality”. Sexism, racism, homophobism (is that a word?). They still exist, yet the ones who commit these immoral acts of discrimination demand equality. That’s hypocrisy, if I’ve ever seen it.
