It is a full moon tonight. The clouds have blanketed the sky and keep the moon hidden in a pale glow. Its a little colder too. New Mexico winters are so beautiful and am relieved that it is finally Friday.
I take an African dance class on Fridays. It is a nice way to end a week, and reconnect my head with my body. Sometimes it takes a while to get those connections going. I forget to be mindful of my body in the rush of doing. I love the way the drums resonate through the wood floors. The stomping and sliding of bare feet all in unison, ( or close approximations) brings energy that is unique to this group of people. It was particularly physical tonight and I was able to keep up. One of the other women around my age told me that I should always remember, You are a dancer. It struck me that perhaps I was, even at 50.
The week flew by in a blur of phone calls from my daughter and work. I was able to attend a conference of spirituality and culture as it applies to mental health and co-occuring disorders. It was fascinating, but drainging. The culture of recovery and the mad pride movements tap into something I understand and I want to learn more. I did meet a therapist who I think may be great to work with. She uses a modality called "The Work". It is interesting and I may follow up with her at some point soon.
Thank you all who have stopped by. I am still learning this website. It has so much on it that I get distracted on one thing or other. I dont know how to do all the fancy things that people are leaving on my page, but I thank you for reaching out.
Blessings to you all
