Dear Community,

My name is Elisabeth Johnson, and I am currently a 17 year old high school senior at John Carroll in Bel Air, Maryland. As a requirement for graduation, I must complete a "Senior Project." Senior Project could be anything, from a hobby you want to try, or something related to a career you want to persue in life.

When I first thought about my senior project, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Theater and acting are two of my favorite things, and I thought to myself, why not write my own play? When faced with a choice of what I would write the play about, I already knew. AIDS.

My Uncle Bob passed away from AIDS when he was 33 years old. I was small, but his passing still has an effect on my life, ever though I never really got to know him. I've decided to write about AIDS because I am going to college to study nursing. Not only am I interested in AIDS research, but it's a topic that is important in my family.

Now you might be reading this and asking yourself, "Why is she posting this on here?" or, "So what?" The truth is, I could use feedback from people that have AIDS so I could incorporate the knowlege into my show. Your name will not be used, nor any personal information will be shared, unless you would like your name in my program the nights of the show. SInce I do not have the virus, I don't think I could get as deep with my play as I want too without other's information. My goal is to bring awareness to the other kids in my high school of the AIDS disease and the effect is has on one's body.

My hope is to gain awareness of the disease itself. To any person out there willing to help, I would be more than grateful for your support. I do not want to make myself seem like I'm disrespectful, because I know that what you all go through is painful and hard to deal with sometimes. I want to listen and get the word out through my craft.
