- my HIV came from medications that I have to take for my hemophilia. my body does not create a clotting Factor called factory 8. back in the early eighties the companies that make the factor we’re not heat treating the medication. it was too costly for them to do this, or to recall all the medication. we had a major blood shortage in the ’80s. the Red Cross and all the other people that pull blood decided to start offering money for people to give blood. they also decided to start taking it from the presents. because of this I have all three hepatitis and HIV. I was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 13 it was told that I never see 40. I have remained positive for 37 years until I had a bad boot with the HIV. and I’m no longer working. not working has been harder on me and 37 years of living with a disease it’s supposed to kill me. I don’t know who I am anymore.
