Blood tracks blood, tracks blood, tracks blood…
Blood tracks blood, tracks blood, tracks blood…
Over and over those words had been running through Hydrangea’s head, What does that even mean? She thought quietly to myself. Staring out the window the sun shone dimly in the sky as if it were going to rain. Mr. Ling had just barely finished explaining The great plague when the bell rang out. Kids stood up quickly and rushed out of the front doors. Hydrangea watched them through the second-story window, as they pooled out like a school of fish. A few minutes later, “Mrs. Hydrangea.” A male’s voice seemed to coo. She only nodded in reply, Hydrangea knew what this meant. Time to go home… She thought bitterly to herself as she packed up her black bag. The home hadn’t been the same for what seemed like ever. Not after her father had committed suicide and her twin siblings were murdered. The thoughts of that night twisted deep within her, forming a visible frown. Throwing her bag over her slim shoulders she exited Mr. Lings history room without a word. Walking down the now almost empty halls. The temperature dropped, and she could feel a warm breath on her neck.” not this again.” Hydrangea groaned bitterly, putting on her earbuds and putting on her music. “Blood tracks blood, tracks blood, tracks blood.” Their faint whispers filled her ears, and her heart raced softly. Angry Hydrangea turned up her music and kept walking. Once again the voices reached out to her, only this time angrier and much louder.” Blood tracks blood, tracks blood, tracks blood!” The voices chimed together. Pulling out her earbuds, Hydrangea turned around and came in sight of two ghostly figures. The hall lights began to flicker as she studied the two figures. Hydrangea bit her bottom lip to stop it from trembling. The two figures looked aged six, the boy wore plaid blue pajamas, with shaggy brown hair and green eyes, that hid behind a pair of blue glasses. The girl wore the same pajamas but pink, her sun kiss blonde hair braided and wrapped around her thin shoulders. Bloodstained their clothes and smudged across their bodies, “What do you want?” Hydrangea finally asked. The children just stared and smiled sinisterly, “Come take us, home sissy, we wanna go home.” The two children vanished into thin air leaving Hydrangea in the cold dark hallways of her school. “ You are not my siblings…” Hydrangea finally sobbed out as she walked out the school and into the pouring rain.
