One of my all-time favorite movies is Swingers with John Favreau and Vince Vaughn. My favorite quote from the movie takes place on a golf course where two of the characters are disccusing the pain related to breaking up with a girl.

Mike: How did you get over it? I mean, how long did it take?

Rob: Sometimes it still hurts. You know how it is, man. It's like, you wake up every day and it hurts a little bit less, and then you wake up one day and it doesn't hurt at all. And the funny thing is, is that, this is kinda wierd, but it's like, it's like you almost miss that pain.

Mike: You miss the pain?

Rob: Yeah, for the same reason that you missed her… because you lived with it for so long.
For anyone who has ever dealt with a significant break up, I think you you can relate with the dialog above. I certainly can.
Emotional pain can be pretty powerful. Sometimes I get into a place where I kind of like the pain/emotion. And I think that is OK, as long as I do not stay in that place for too long.
I think it takes a full range of emotions to fully enjoy life. If we were all happy all the time, would we ever really know that we were happy? (Yeah I know, mind blowing. haha. Some of your brains just exploded right then, I heard it all the way up here in Boston.)
The point I am trying to make here is that pain is not always a bad thing and sometimes it's good to embrace it. Maybe this is an obvious statement, but I need to be reminded of it sometimes.
Thank you to ChelseaDagger who inspired me to write this.
