So I am a senior in high school this year. (Wow I never thought I’d be able to say/type that)
I know what I want to major in and where I want to go but I am getting really stressed about paying for it. The school I want to go to offers a lot of scholarships but due to the bad grades I got in freshman and sophomore year due to mental health and pandemic reasons, I likely won’t be eligible for the biggest one.
I am really stressed because I don’t really have the free time to get a job seeing as I’m taking 4 AP classes and two dual credit classes this year. I own a small business but it is so small that it really isn’t a reliable source of income.
Any advice?
Hi there! That sounds like an extremely difficult challenge to face coming out of high school. Financial battles for college students are prevalent stress inducers. You never know what opportunities will come your way. It is very rare to have perfect grades operating through high school with so many changes; therefore, I hope you can give yourself some grace with that one! It sounds like your plate is full with many excelarated classes, but I have faith in you. You are capable and your small business is changing lives whether you realize it or not!
Hi! First, it is so important to give yourself grace. Not many high school students make it to graduation with perfect grades. Everyone’s mental health journey looks different and the things you have been through cause significant impacts. You are taking 4 AP courses and have a small business, you are smarter and stronger than you think. Remember that any scholarship helps make a dent in tuition and new opportunities pop up when you are least expecting them.
