I have began taking Lexapro on Saturday.. I am taking one 10 MG pill every morning and throughout the day hours I feel absolutely great. Little things don’t bother me as much as they used to, and if they do I am able to shrug them off right away without much thought. My relationship already is seeing a definite turn, as I used to be very irritable and mean to my boyfriend over little things he did.. Now I just feel very loving toward him and it is a refreshing feeling to be able to communicate with him and everyone else like a "normal" person. The negative effects, however, are still present. I have only been taking them for three consecutive days, but every day since I started I have been unable to sleep.. tossing and turning ALLLL night long. I feel HOT, almost unbearably. Like my legs and arms are burning and tingling and there is NOTHING I can do to relieve it. I put a cold towel on my head and legs but all that did was irritate my skin more and make it feel crawly and weird. There are some other side effects I’ve been feeling but they are so insignificant in comparison to the way I felt before that I really don’t care about those. The worser of the side effects take place around 4 PM – so basically 8 hours into my dose. I called my doctor and he said he would prefer I take one at night instead to see how this goes and if the symptoms persist, to just take half a day. I am wondering if these effects are because my body is getting used to the medication and will go away after a few days, or if it will continue to affect my body like this. We will see how it goes taking the dose at night and I will update my symptoms in a few days. Wish me luck… these side effects SUCKKKKKK, seriously.

I had the same issues only a headache but more anxiety when I take it … so i am giving it a break.
Ashlee, most often the side effects of the SSRI’s tend to abate over time–so there is a good chance that some of the side effect stuff will go away. Lexapro is a relatively clean drug in terms of side effects; and please ignore the rant from Zack. Simply not accurate.
Although not commonly needed, you might also try splitting the dose to 5 mg in AM and 5 mg at bedtime–and that might avoid that onset of SE at the 8 hour mark. Good luck.
