Honestly, I have no idea where I would be without music.  Of course, my stepmother does not want me to pleasure read or listen to music, but being the persnickety lemon that I am, I disregard the rules.  😉

Books are amazing, in my professional opinion they are WAY better than people.  Books build little paper worlds of words, pages, dreams, hopes and fears and those worlds will never disappear.  Even when family and friends alsways turn their back on me or hurt me, books are always there and they are always comforting.   They are like ice cream on a hot day,  a reprieve from something that seems endless.  I realize that all of that probably makes me seem SUPER wierd and awkward, (which I am) but I can carry a normal conversation with minimal nerdyness.

As for music, it is pretty much the same reasons plus the fact that if you have earbuds in or headphones on, nobody will even bother trying to talk to you since they acknowledge that your mind is elsewhere.  I personally think that a lot of the music that artists are making now is just as appealing as a pile of dog turd.  It doesn’t really matter how good the song SOUNDS if the lyrics are just a bunch of nonsense that rhymes.  For example, most rap music seems to have NO PURPOSE.  like…. what message are they trying to send? You want big butts, cash, liquor, and drugs?  And if that is their intended message then… What. The. Hell. Don’t waste anyone’s time with that, it is scarce enough as it is.  But some artists actually put feeling into their work.  It is especially best whwen the artist has actually been through whatever the song is about.  It is usually pretty sad, and it sucks what they have gone through that causes them to produce music so deep, but I still love music from the heart. Yeah, just read this paragraph over and it is just a long rant, but what can I say…  I get passionate about my music.  Well, anything that is important to me.

Nowwww for your final act I will provide a brief summary of a book that I strongly recommend, a song, and a picture that I enjoy.

Wintergirls:

Wintergirls is a fiction novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. It tells the story of a girl, Lia Overbrook, who suffers from anorexia and self harm. She struggles to fight her mental illness while balancing everything else in her life. Months after a fall out with her best friend Cassie, Lia receives news that she has died from bulimia. Lia’s fight for her life becomes even more difficult.

(I did not write the summary)
