Well I just had a melt down. Still really upset. I have a few OCD issues. As much as i HATE to admit this one Hoarding has been one of the issues I have been battling. I don't hoard large amounts but I do hoard a few bags of absolute junk. I'm 28, moved back into my parents house a years ago, and thats when my somewhat severe OCD was exposed. Anyway long story short, I just became aware that my father threw out me "junk bags." I know they have been highly concerned and confused about myOCD, not to mention very supportive. However, in anattenpt to help me, he got rid of them without telling me..well it didnt take me long to find this out. As an extremely respectful daughter, mt eyes immedatly filled with tears andI called him a"f*cking asshole," then took off in my car.I NEVER curse or disrespect my parents but I becamefilled with a rage that Icould not control. On top of that I had nightmareall night about my other side of OCD. I get "stuck"when walking, driving etc. I get filled with fear that I'm dropping somethingor that I ran something over, It takes me foreverto get places. I'm on Max dosage of Luvox and seek therapy. I've only been on meds for less then a year. An therapy was hard because it took me awile to find someone who I thoughthe/she knew what they were doing. I finnally did but I only resentlystarted monthly session. I just wanted to vent. I actually really just helped me I feel. I just got home, ignored my father and went right to my room and signed up for thissite. I'll work on making a better profile pageetc. when I get a chance. I feel as though I'm really going to like this site. Hopeeveryone is doing well. Talk to some ofyou soon I hope. Thank you. Jessica

Welcome to the tribe. Sorry to hear about your hard times, fortunately, this often leads us to finding this site. People without OCD don't understand how to treat it. I think they get the idea that using logic will help "fix" us or improve us, but it really doesn't work like they would like it to. Loved ones have no idea how we feel about a lot of things, so they don't always know how serious we may take something that seems so irrelevant to them. It wouldn't hurt if your parents learned a little more about OCD as well. After some therapy, I think you would have eventually thrown the bags away. Your dad and you probably both feel a little bit guilty about the way things happened, but hopefully you will make up soon. It sounds like you do a lot of checking while you are out. I hope this therapist is good for you and helps give you the tools to help battle your OCD effectively. Hope you enjoy the site. Take care!
I can definitely relate to getting stuck while driving. Sometimes it takes me way longer to get to work or home because I have to follow someone to get thier license plate.
Hey-welcome to the site : ) . It can be a good way to get things off of your chest with people who understand. I noticed in your post you said you were seeing your Dr. once a month – maybe up that to every other week if possible- I notice during some of my most trying times with OCD, seeing the therapist a little more often helps : ) Hang in there!
