Linda and I went out to The House of Blues this past Saturday night. We went to Chicago’s famous House of Blues. This venue has hosted talents like Muddy Waters and Smokey Robinnson.
Anyway, about halfway throough the set I got a panic attack. Panic attacks strike me anytime, anywhere. I know I’m in trouble when I begin to breathe faster. I feel like I can’t get enough air. My breath comes in gulps. My hands and feet begin to sweat. I feel clamy all over. I start to get dizzy. My vision becomes blurred. Then comes the worst symptom…heart palpatations. When this happens, Linda holds me and wipes my forehead with her hanky. This helps.
This recent attack left me helpless. I was unable to move. Sometimes, Linda gives me a xanax which helps.
My attacks last about 20-minutes. I used to get them at work all the time. Now that I’m retired, you’d think I’d get fewer attacks. Not so. I get them all the time. With the heart pallpations, I feel like I’m having a heart attack. But, I always survive.
If anyone out there has any advice for me, please add a comment to this post. Thank you.
