My neighbor across the hall was a very reclusive lady in her late 60's. Known her from her homeless days, over 2 years ago. Nobody had seen her for over a month. The Texas heat, had gotten some very bad smells comming from her apt. Couldn't reach the landlord to check on her, so I had to call 911. Her door was deadbolted from the inside. The firedepartment , got a ladder ,and busted out a window,as we live on the 2nd floor of our apt. building. They got into her apt. from an upstairs , outside window. I had to leave before the firedepartment go there, but gave police what information I had on her. When I got home, I was told they found her dead body inside. She had been dead for over a week. I was in shock. I had tried to get a responce from her over the past month, but until the smells, I thought she was just being her reclusive self, & ok. Smelled like someone had left out raw chicken on the counter, and left it out for along time, that rank smell. I am still kinda in shock , and grief that they found her dead. Mr. Brenda was a creative, and very intellegent woman, hardly anyone knew her, such a shame. I put a rose on her door last night, and one of the other neighbors put some more flowers on her door this morning. Her presence will not be forgotten. I hope I makes others in the apt., and the few that knew her from the streets think about how fragil our lives are, and feel the need to connect with a higher power. I don't know if she knew the Lord or not,and that greives me. I hope she did.
