I'm feeling a little bit more up today than yesterday. I'm not questioning my existence today or letting myself overthink things ~ I'm just letting myself breathe and enjoy the simple things in life. It's helped a lot.

Slept in this morning until 9:30 a.m., which was nice since I didn't really get to sleep until after 2 a.m. I got up, had my coffee, did some stuff online, and then got ready for a day at the river. I wasn't really feeling like doing anything today but I knew the boys were looking forward to it and I didn't want to disappoint them. So we went and met up with our friends again at the riverside and spent the day sitting in the sun and the breeze listening to the radio while the kids and the guys played in the water. Michelle and I just sat and talked and tried to de-stress. We stayed for about 4 hours and ate lunch and snacked and joked. The kids argued and played but it all worked out just fine. I feel better for having gone.

So now we're home after running to the grocery store to get fixings for tacos for dinner, and I'm getting pretty sleepy. I also have a headache from too much sun ~ but at least this time no one got sunburned! I made sure of that.

We found hermit crabs, jellyfish, a horseshoe crab and fish eggs. The kids delighted in everything living that we found and had to feel them. At one point Heidi was carrying around a dead fish by it's tail and we had to make her get rid of it, silly girl. She's such a girl but at the same time she's not afraid of anything. That worries me with her often. She's a little too brave for her own good.

I didn't go in today because it was a little too murky for my liking. If I can't see the ground I don't want to be in it! Everyone else went out there at some point but I also didn't have my water shoes so I wasn't going to chance it after the last foray we took to another area of the river and we all got our feet cut up pretty badly.

Some days the river is clear and pretty, but other days it's full of silt and muck. We're right across from an inlet so it's both salt and fresh water mixed. We get to see all sorts of wildlife out there ~ dolphins, pelicans, crabs, stingrays, and plenty of fish. Sometimes we even get to see Roseate Spoonbills ~ they're beautiful pink birds with a beak shaped like a rounded shovel. They feed on little critters they find in the sand and use their bill to dig them out. My favorites to watch though have always been the dolphin pods ~ so playful and graceful.

It's good to be home now though. We're all tired and are busy doing nothing. I'm thinking on taking a short nap before I have to start dinner.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow's Memorial Day…I'm frustrated in some ways that my husband has to work because he's a veteran, but the holiday pay is something we can't pass up right now. Especially since I'm not working these next two weeks because I'll be watching Heidi for Michelle. But she's going to pay me a little which will help make up for it. We have to be able to pay for Zachary's summer camp every week. Luckily for us it's not that much money. It's still more than we can really afford, but it's good for him and that's what's important to us. He doesn't need to be sitting around the house all day all summer long. I'll probably keep him home for one or two weeks so he actually gets vacation time, but no more than that.

So it's been a fairly mellow day. Had to raise my voice a few times at the kids because they were throwing mud at each other, but other than that I have no real complaints.

Tomorrow will be housecleaning and laundry day, so I'm going to enjoy relaxing for now while I can. With that said, I'm signing off. Love you guys!
