Hello! I’m looking for some advice and suggestions. Its a bit of a long-winded story.
My whole family knows and accepts that I’m attracted to girls. So do the people I live with. They’d all had their suspicions since I was in high school. I didn’t fully realize though until a six months ago when I moved away from home. A that point in time, I was dating a guy I had met on tinder (and had only ever dated guys). At present, we just celebrated our two year anniversary. I really love him and could possibly even imagine a future with him. However, there is no sexual attraction on my part.
I know that I should explain all this to him. It‘s the correct thing to do. Its not healthy for me to keep it all in. He, however, would not handle it well. The same circumstance has happened before so he would have a breakdown. He already makes daily “jokes” about me leaving him for a woman. I don’t think I could open up about this with him without ending the relationship. I know we both love each other but we both have a lot of emotional baggage and I’m not sure that our relationship could handle my coming out. I’m not sure what to do.. Both emotional and sexual attraction are such huge thing in a relationship for me. I’ve been torn for month.. I’d really appreciate any opinions or advice you can give.. Thank you…
its not my place, but i think you already realize that youre going to have to tell him eventually, and sooner is probably better than later, just like you probably already know that sometimes theres no avoiding bitterness no matter how hard you try. do the best you can and accept whatever the results are, good or bad. if you want to pursue other things tell him you still want to be friends or something, it might be cliche but its honest. like you said if youve been torn for a month you already know what the correct thing to do is, its just gonna suck to do, thats all… but i have no emotional investment like you do as far as all of that goes, so grain of salt eh…
