The quarter is almost over, I have no more classes, and I'm stuck in something of a social dilemma.

The guy that I like won't be here next quarter and I'm dying to see if he is, in fact, dating someone. I think he is and yet not knowing for sure is bugging me. I'm tempted to friend him on Facebook but I'm nervous. We have never talked outside of my interviewing him but at the same time, people friend each other on social sites for no reason at all sometimes (okay, a lot of the time…). Would it be too forward? Would it make me look pathetic? Would people know what I'm up to and would it even matter if they did? The girl that I think is his gf changed her facebook picture to one of the two of them on Valentine's Day and left it up for about 3 or 4 days before she changed it again. He never put one up at all and has changed his picture 3 times in the past week (yes, yes, I look, he's cute okay? >.>) and not one has included her. I don't see any recent pics with her or any recent comments from her so now I'm dying to know if he's taken or not…

Then there's the guy I used to have a massive crush on when I was 9. It lasted for about 6 or 7 years and when I go to the county fair every year, I still sometimes wonder if he'll be there and find myself glancing around for him every so often. I just found out that he was married for 3 years and divorced so I'm not sure if friending him would be bad or not. I haven't seen him in years and I wouldn't want to lead him on knowing that he's already been hurt before but I'm curious.

And finally – thankfully, this one doens't involve romance – there's my professor. I respect him very much and made something of a connection with him. He doesn't teach any other courses so I won't get to have him again but I'm thinking of friending him as well and maybe trying to keep in touch. Awkward or no? I've seen professors and high school teachers do this so should I? Should I check out his friend list to see if he does this or not or just do it?

To friend or not to friend? That is the question…
