we become member of the 12 step program of our choice when we finally stop putting mind or mood alterating substances in our bodies. just because we quit does not mean the work stops. you need to get a sponsor, you need to work the 12 steps in order, they are written the way they are for a reason. just as yuo peel off anohter layer off the onion as you progress in Recocvery you peel off another layer of your past and let God take care of it.
we make the choice to get clean because we are tired of living the "lie". once we finally make that chice our lives slowly change. we become the person God meant us to be. don;t worry about what other people think of you worry about what you think of you. Give this simple 12 step program one year of your life and if you don't like it then we can refund your misery 100%. I see a lot of people posting about having to take med for various reasons. i am a full blown insulin dependant diabetic. i am hooked to an insulin pump 24/7. i have pi-polarosm and PTSD due to two trips to Viet Nam. I was shot twice. i also have high blood pressure, high cholesteral, high triglycerides, and a few more things wrong with me. these medications keep me alive. i have been clean for a couple of decades now. i have had 25 surgeries in 21 years.
does that make me anymore special than the new comer no it does not. i choose Recovery today because it works in my life. I shoot straight from the hip, i do not sugar coat anything, my style of Recovery is a bit hard nosed for most but it works for me. you cannot con a con man. 3 of my 4 kids are still active users. my 24 yr old daughter now had a little over 1 year clean. i am very proud of her for choosing for herself to get clean for the right reasons. mostly for herself.
if your new to Recovery i have posted over 200 blogs about my recovery and yours. i don't have all the answers and sometimes i don't even know the questions but together we can alone we can't. some people on here tell me i piss them off. good i am glad i got your attention. we all have defects of character we will be working on for life. none of us work the perfect program. we work the program to the best of our ability. as long as you are willing to make positive changes in your life then you are headed in the right direction. here's my best wishes for a Happy Clean New Year. remember that Recovery is a journey not a destination and use the rest stops God provides along the way.
NA hugs and love,
JJ
