WHO'S TO BLAME
DAD LOVED MOM,
MOM LOVED DAD.
SO WAS THE BEGINING,
OF THE LIFE THEY WOULD HAVE,
THEIR LOVE RAGED,
WITHOUT REASON OR RHYME,
SURLY THIS WILL LAST,
TO THE END OF TIME.
SO IRONIC IS,
THIS THING CALLED LOVE,
HE WORKED TWO JOBS,
TO KEEP THEM ABOVE.
HE BOUGHT HER DIAMONDS,
A HOUSE AND CARS,
EVENTUALLY HE STARTED,
TO STOP AT THE BARS.
SHE'S ALONE ALOT,
GONE IS THE THRILL,
AND HAPPINESS IS SOUGHT,
IN A BOTTLE OF PILLS.
“OUR LOVE ISN'T GONE,
IT'S NOT TOO LATE,
WE'LL HAVE A BABY,
AND THINGS WILL BE GREAT.”
THE BABY CAME,
AND OHHHH WHAT A SIGHT,
THOUGH SOMETIMES SHE CRIED,
ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT.
ALONE TOGETHER …
MOMENTS WERE FEW,.
THEN SHE GOT A JOB,
TO HELP THEM THROUGH.
THE BABY WATCHED T.V.
AND PLAYED VIDEO GAMES,
KNEW BARNY'S FRIENDS…
AND COULD CALL THEM BY NAME.,
LIFE FLEW PAST,
AND TIME WENT ON,
ONLY FELT LOVED,
WHEN SHE DID WRONG.
NOW THE BABY HAS GROWN,
SHES ALWAYS DERPRESSED,
WHAT WAS THE REASON?
MOM AND DAD COULDN'T GUESS,
SHE HAD EVERYTHING,
THAT MONEY COULD BUY,
NOBODY COULD BLAME THEM,
GOD KNOWS… THEY TRIED.
DOCTORS????
SHE HAD THE BEST,
KNEW ABOUT A.D.D….DEPRESSION,
AND ALL THE REST.
BUT WITH THE DRUGS THEY GAVE HER,
SHE COULDN'T GET STONED,
SO SHE WENT DOWN THE STREET,
TO GET HER OWN.
LIFE WASN'T WORTH LIVING,
UNLESS SHE WAS HIGH,
AND WHEN SHE WAS ALONE,
SHE'D SIT AND CRY.
NOBODY KNEW HER,
NOBODY CARED,
OFTEN SHE WALKED AROUND,
WITH A FAROFF GLARE.
ALWAYS SCARED,
OFTEN SHUNNED,
UNTIL THE DAY…
SHE BOUGHT THAT GUN.
GOD SAVE THE ONES,
THAT CAUSED HER FEAR,
FOR THEY WERE THE ONES…
THAT WOULD CRY… BITTER TEARS.
NO ONE SAW IT COMING,
THAT FATEFUL DAY,
WHO SHOULD HAVE STOPPED IT???
NO ONE COULD SAY.
MOM AND DAD WONDERED,
WHAT HAVE WE DONE???
THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT…
WHEN WE HAVE A SON.
TODAY I'M SAD,
AS I SIT AND THINK,
WOULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED,
WITHOUT MY FIRST DRINK?
MOM FINALLY GOT BETTER,
WENT TO REHAB,
AND TELLS ME THAT THIS TIME….
I'LL BE A BETTER DAD.
