"Everyday is about becoming" I believe that going through a process of self-reflection and change is powerful and brave. It helps us identify how we are getting in our own way in having a better quality of life. In responsibility their is power. Everyone wants to feel content and satisfied with themselves and the world they build around them but we struggle to achieve this goal because we have been hurt, disappointed, betrayed, or doubt ourselves. Find your personal power and change your world. I am with you.

It's been said that people do not care what you know, until they know that you care. In a world where independence and self-sufficiency is the gold standard, many can find themselves longing to be seen, heard and cared for. Healing starts when someone feels heard, and I am here to be your witness.

I am a mature aged male psychologist, with a combination of tertiary training and life experience working in both Blue and White collar settings (before my Psychology training) as well as having worked in settings like co-facilitating Domestic Violence Groups and an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) in a prison farm setting. I also offer services after hours (Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings) for those in the workforce. This is in addition to offering Medicare Telehealth consultations for those in applicable areas, e.g. those in the country, or FIFO workers while on-site. I also offer the Prepare-Enrich relationship enhancement program (more info on my website.) In terms of presenting issues these include: Depression; Anxiety; Stress; Workplace difficulties; Couple counselling; Anger related concerns; Dealing with grief, loss and other changes; Gay and Lesbian issues and; Addictions - to name a few. For those wanting more "technical" information, broadly speaking I use a Humanistic orientation to my work, using techniques and insights from a combination of; A Rogerian perspective; Positive Psychology techniques; Transactional Analysis; Mindfulness; Systems Psychology; Acceptance and Commitment therapy(ACT); Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); and other techniques acquired via my continuing professional development. The choices as to what is used depend on the individual clients circumstances and the presenting issue or issues. Clients report that they like that I have a combination of life experience, am a "few steps removed" from their lives and that I often supply handouts, or make suggestions of books to read or movies to watch to assist them with what they have come to see me about.
I use attention in precise ways to facilitate shifts in experience and relief from difficult symptoms. These may include depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationships, anger, grief, chronic pain, and spiritual concerns. In therapy, we bring attention to hidden parts of ourselves in a safe and supported environment. Change occurs through this mechanism of directed attention.
During all my years of practice of psychoanalysis in Toronto and other cities, I have found that many times talking with family members or friends is not possible or not useful, since they are going to have a bias vision about the problem, they may judge us or simply is something that we cannot disclose to them. That is when we need to find a third party with the professional training and the personal life experience that can help us to see our challenges under a new light. My experience as an individual counsellor and as a marriage counsellor, has led me to develop a technique that creates an environment of freedom and safety to express your challenges. Psychotherapy for me is the possibility to question every option, have the freedom to consider the possible outcomes and consequences of our actions and to have the time and space to decide what can make you happier, prouder and fulfilled as a human being or as a couple. I think that self-knowledge is the main strength that we can have as a person and the key to enjoy life fully. I have been in different countries, with different cultures and different languages and that has made me realize that it is possible to face challenges and problems in different ways according on how you would feel safer and confident in doing so. My wish is that every person can live his or her own life fully and freely in his or her own terms. I want to share that wish with you.
Life is really hard. If you are a teen (11-17) or young adult (18-29), life can be even harder. From school to finances, to friends to family… the pressure just keeps growing. And these pressures? Well, they can make you feel worried, anxious, or even alone. But you don’t have to feel this way.
My therapeutic approach is based on Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). I focus on assisting clients in identifying and implementing emotion regulation and coping strategies. In the true spirit of DBT, my clients have access to me in between sessions via my cell phone. I have found this level of support to be comforting and supportive of clients as they are integrating new coping strategies and engaged in their healing journey.
