You may call it "the blues", but let's be realistic: it's depression, plain and simple.

Most people will find it hard to accept that they are depressed, because depression is seen as a psychiatric disorder that requires treatment and medication and so on…

Don't worry: depression is incredibly common, and just about everyone in the world suffers from it at some point in their lives. Here are some ways that you can fight those "moody blues" in order to be a happier, healthier you:
  • Quit thinking — Did you know all that time you spend thinking is just going to make things worse? If you've been in a fight, gone through a breakup, or gotten fired, stop thinking about it. Take action to apologize and move on, and get out of your head!
  • Don't assume the worst — This is a mistake that many people make, as they automatically make a catastrophe out of a simple event. Don't automatically blow things out of proportion, and don't focus on the worst outcome possible.
  • Ignore the future and past — Get your head out of your past, and keep it away from your future as well. Worrying about mistakes made in the past will have you fretting, and the worries of the future will stress you out. Just pay attention to the now, and let tomorrow bring what it will.
  • Get social — One of the best ways to combat depression is to be social. No, that doesn't mean log onto Facebook, but it does mean that you should go spend time with friends. Being social not only helps to fight depression, but it can make you a much happier person.
  • Sleep like a BOSS – Nothing makes you feel better than an awesome nights sleep. Better attitude changes things in a big way not to mention sleep is the best anti-ager on the market. You mattress plays the roll in keeping you out cold. Consider a higher end mattress like an Essentia, Tempur-pedic or a Hastens mattress is you have 15k to burn.
  • Fake it till you make it — You may feel blue, and you may be down in the dumps, but so what? Fake your happiness and positive attitude, and eventually you'll find that your acting is so convincing that you've convinced yourself to be happy.
  • Love yourself — You are who you are, and nothing can change that. Don't beat yourself up for your flaws or mistakes, but reward yourself for the good things in your life. No, that doesn't mean it's time to break out the ice cream (emotional eating is the worst for depression), but it does mean that you can give yourself a break!
Fighting depression is surprisingly easy, and yet it's surprisingly hard at the same time. If you catch it before it sets in, you can kick it out and avoid it altogether. If it sets in completely, you'll have to battle it. For this reason, let the tips above help you kick depression out before it gets a grip on you. You'll be so much happier and healthier!
