As a licensed clinical psychologist for 20+ years, I understand that the relationship and "fit" between client and therapist is paramount. I work hard to establish and maintain a relationship based on mutual trust and honesty. We can work together to help you feel less stuck, and more in control.
I provide professional, results-oriented counseling with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a method that more quickly and effectively brings about positive changes. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I also work extensively with couples and family members on relationship issues.
I believe that in order for psychotherapy to be effective, it is the relationship between the therapist and the client that provides room for growth and change. Therapy is such a deeply personal process and I'd be happy to talk with you to see if we would be a good fit.

What I have found in my time as a counsellor, is that those who struggle the hardest, are those that are hardest on themselves. I provide a safe, compassionate and empathic space for you to gain insight and and learn to be kinder to yourself in order to make the changes you want.
I am committed to supporting individuals who are overwhelmed with work and life stressors, challenged with trauma/crisis, or frustrated with fractured relationships; to develop solutions for stress management, repair and deepen relationships, and heal from being hurt so that you thrive through life with emotional health, wealth, and wellness.
I work with individuals to increase their understanding of themselves and their relationships. The insights gained in therapy provide relief from emotional pain and can be a springboard for growth and lasting change. My clinical experience includes many years' in the NHS working with individuals with complex mental health needs. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).
I believe in the power of therapy to help people escape the grip of the trauma: I work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, abusive relationships, rape and sexual violence, terrorism and political violence. I also have a special interest in birth-related traumas. I find survivors of these experiences are often still trapped by the psychological, physical and social impacts of abuse. Trauma can be buried deep within the non-verbal areas of the brain and in the body and I work with mind and body to uncover and relieve trauma so you can slip the shackles and move on to a more fulfilling life and relationships: trauma is sometimes so deeply buried, it can't easily be put into words, yet still has an insidious effect. I have been a therapist for over twenty years (first as a counsellor and then psychotherapist) and worked for sixteen years in charities helping traumatised refugees and survivors of torture, so have a long experience of working with very high levels of trauma and the impact it has. I am an EMDR Therapist, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, and Solution Focused Brief Therapist. I am also a qualified Fitness Instructor and use exercise to help people improve their mental health and wellbeing.
