Well today I  turn the unenviable age of 68 ,,been retired for ,,, what 6 years now ….I go to 12 step meetings mostly for the social interaction,,,, I also cannot drink so there is a dual purpose to it ,,,, I have related that I have social isolation issues which does brings on a depressive mood and with that a lack of motivation to do anything constructive ,,, I find that when opportunity arrives most of the time I respond,, but nothing seems to go anywhere so I am left holding the bag again and again,,,, it disappoints me to think others are so self absorbed that they ignore my reaching out ,,, but perhaps that is the way life has evolved recently,,,I am working this out in therapy, but the answers I hear seem to come up very short and meaningless,,, and I respond that I do not really understand how people can be so callous…

I think that this is not only coming from me, but it is a national epidemic ,,, actually an international problem.. I think the internet has some blame in this regard,,, and smart phones in particular,,, but try putting the toothpaste back inside the tube ,,,, good luck ,,

So.. I am here to scrape up what interactions and relationships I can find ,,, it is very hard to do,,, and not so sure how successful I can make of this ,,,I need to find local friends who share common interests .. and not working full  time or going to school or having a means of making continual contact on a regular basis,,,makes it all the harder to find lasting friendships that endure ,,, So,,, I am on here on this site to see what happens ,,, I am not expecting miracles just some people to connect with and maybe share some experiences. I am open to whatever comes down the road.
