As I probably mentioned, my truck got stuck on the ice during a snow storm on Christmas Eve.  I spent 1 1/2 hours in a blizzard trying to dig it free.  Seeing that it was in a place that did not impede traffic, I left it there.  On Christmas, I tried again.  As there had not yet been any time above freezing, no progress was made.

This morning my wife called me from work.  She said that there were tow trucks hauling away vehicles up and down NW Expressway, so I should try to get an early start on freeing my truck.  I had originally planned to wait for afternoon, when the melting would start.

A few minutes after that call my (retired) parents called to let me know that they were driving across town to help me get my truck.  I decided that I could wait until they got here.

30 minutes later, the phone rang again.  It was my mom.  Some time between when my wife went to work and my parents came over, someone had hit my truck.

Goodie.

We went over to where it was, only to find out that it had actually been a 4 vehicle accident.  Some lady had run a guy in a Camry off the road.  He had hit a woman in an Impala, and driven her car into my truck.  The original cause of the accident had driven away, but the Camry driver had given the Impala driver all of his insurance information.  She related everything to me.

A tow truck arrived and peeled her Impala off my truck, which I was then able to drive home.  I will have to take it some time in the coming week to be appraised.  Hopefully we won’t have to pay the $500 deductible (I have full coverage), and it will be passed off on the other drivers’ insurance companies.

Yep.  It’s a fucking wonderful year.

Yes, FortunateDaughter, a new year is about to start.  One where I can look forward to my wife divorcing me, moving back in to my parents” house at the age of 37, and attempting to find a job for the first time in 16 years.  All while trying to stay in touch with my son, hoping I get to also see my daughter (technically she is from my wife”s first marriage, but I”ve been raising her since before she was 1 year old), and paying child support.

I hope your new year is worth a "Yahoo!"

    Mine most certainly won”t be.
