Checking in with all of you during this challenging time. I’ve been writing out daily self-care plans. Writing these have helped me stay focused on taking care of myself. Hope you are all developing your own plans.
I limit watching/reading the news to one hour. I’ve been cooking dinner much more in last 2 weeks.Every day I read a couple chapters in a book and walk. And I’ve got a jump start on outdoor projects–raking flower beds mostly. To be honest, my sleep has not been the greatest so often up at 4AM or 5AM. At least I can take a nap every day.   Of course there is more time to clean house, but so far not making that a priority. I don’t consider cleaning self-care unless things are out of control or if it’s a project that I’ve really wanted to get done!
Other helpful things I’ve been doing.
* Joined a video chat (thru Zoom) with a local Al-Anon group. It is as much a coronavirus support group as it was Al-Anon.
* My church started a Sunday service thru Zoom. They also offer online Meditation and Pastoral Care groups during the week.
* Several times Skyped with VA family. Our family also started a Marco Polo group so we can share videos with each other when the mood strikes you…that’s been fun.
While I’m sure you’ve all been bombarded with information/resources and supportive articles, I’d still like to share three that struck me the most in the last couple of weeks –
Focusing on the Positive when Life is on Hold
The Ninth Obstacle (Braver/ Wiser) …on facing challenges  (see attached)
And a good article from WebMD –  How I’m Protecting Myself from Depression During Self-Isolation
Sunny and finally warming up…time to walk.
