I saw my G.I. Specialist yesterday finally. It went okay. I really like him ~ he's a nice man and explains things in a way that make sense to the average person. He actually thinks one of my problems may be lactose-intolerance. But he's certain that's only a small part of it. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy (and any consequent necessary surgery at the same time) on May 12, the day after Mother's Day. Mother's Day is definitely not going to be fun, lol. For those of you that have had a colonoscopy done, you'll understand what I mean about the prep.

I feel a little more relaxed knowing that this is going to be over with soon. At least after this I can start dealing with treatment options and such. He's already started changes in my diet since I was originally diagnosed with IBS at 17, and it should help a lot. I already have a lot of faith in him. I have to start adding 3-5 grams of fiber to my diet every 4-5 days until I get to around 30 grams daily. He said that's what people are supposed to have, but the average American only eats about 4 grams per day!

I had to do my last set of blood tests this morning, and had to fast last night and this morning. I hate not being able to have my coffee in the morning! LOL. It makes me grumpy. But my husband having taken the day off today to spend with me made up for it. We got to hang out and relax, just the two of us, for most of the day. It was really nice.

Right now Zach and his friend are playing Star Wars in his bedroom and having a light-saber fight. 😉 They're so cute. Tonight they are going to a school "dance" (it's not really a dance, more of just a chance to hang out with their friends and goof off) for K-5th grades only. They'll get 2 hours to play all sorts of games, eat pizza, have soda, and have a good time while the parents get a little time to themselves. 🙂

I'm pretty tired today, but not sure exactly why. Dealing with a little bit of depression, but not bad. I'm too busy to think about how I feel…maybe that's what I need to be doing most of the time. Maybe that would be a way to lessen the issues?

We're probably going to go out and look at a new (used) car that I'm really interested in buying. It depends on a lot though. If they want too much for it per month then there's no way to do it. And I'd definitely have to get a part-time job to be able to pay for it. I have to weigh my options carefully here… But my car is getting up there in years and mileage, and if we want to get any trade-in value out of it we have to do this soon. (sigh) I hate money; it's always such an issue. I don't want to make the wrong choice and put us in financial straits. I'm going to leave the final say to my husband.

I hope Friday has found you all well. God bless and I send my love.

    Dear Sadviolinist,

You seem pretty positive right now. I do pray the colonoscopy goes well. I had one recently. The prep was not as bad as everyone had said.

God luck with car buying. I know it can be stressful. I don't like getting new vehicles so I drive it until it dies, or almost. We keep our cars about 10 years. But then again you want to make the right choice because you are going to keep it a while. It's tough deciding.

    Have a great weekend!
